Program Outline

Harmony Nursery School offers a program that is age appropriate for 21/2 - 4 yr old children.  Each child will have the opportunity to discover God and His world through a nurturing and creative environment.  The program offers a variety of learning opportunities geared to match the needs of each individual child.  This is available through centre time, music, outdoor recess, books, circle time and ongoing social interactions between children and teachers.  Two themes will be woven together that introduce children to the world around them and to God's
world.  Each child will be provided with a variety of ways to learn, explore and to discover.

Harmony JK Preschool follows  a JK curriculum with the focus primarily on two themes that will run concurrently.  One theme emphasizes a Bible story/lesson and the other explores God’s world.  These themes may be incorporated into various centres, activities and the occasional field trips.  There will be such things as housekeeping centre, music and movement, science and nature, arts and crafts, floor and table toys, sand and water toys, book centre and gross motor activities (i.e. gym time).  The Jolly Phonics is an integral part of JK Preschool language learning program in addition to our core number literacy program.  As  part of our intergrade connection program,  each child will be assigned a reading buddy from an older grade.  This student will read to your child on weekly basis.  Your child will also have library time where she or he can choose books from our school’s library.

Both programs will follow Georgetown District Christian School’s holiday schedule including Christmas, March and Summer breaks and any weather related closures (i.e. snow day)

Transportation

Busing transportation is available for those child/ren enrolled in JK program (age 4 years old) and is included in the tuition fees.

Busing transportation is not available for the nursery school program.

Georgetown District Christian School buses are operated by LaidLaw            Transportation and we have 4 bus routes covering Georgetown, Milton, Acton, Erin, Rockwood and Glen Williams.

Every child (4 years old) is assigned to a bus stop on an existing bus route.        We do not offer door to door transportation so you may have to meet the bus on its route.

Every new child in Harmony JK preschool program will be assigned a senior student as their bus buddy before school begins in September.

The school hosts a bus orientation evening (in August) prior to a new school year, to go over bus safety rules and prepare your child to ride a bus.

For more information on current bus stops, please contact our office.
