Music Program
Our music program (both choral and instrumental) plays a very important part in the life of our students at Music curriculum also involves a Primary choir (Grades 1, 2, 3) and a Junior choir (Grades 4, 5, 6). Both choirs participate in the community by visiting local Retirement Homes as well as participating in special events at the school. The primary grades concentrate on singing, rhythm, and beat, using some Orff instruments and rhythm instruments as well as the "Music Play" curriculum. In the junior grades we continue with this and hope to accomplish part singing. The recorder is played in grades four, five and six. Grade six students also learn to play hand chimes as they continue to study theory, history, and music appreciation. Grades seven and eight students participate in a concert band program using the "Accent on Achievement" series by J. O'Reilly and M. Williams. Once each year we put on a major dramatic or musical program - either at Christmas or in the spring. All students are involved and all parents and friends are invited. |
